As co-op practitioner at Memorial University, I recruit employers to partner with us to hire co-operative education students. Students from many disciplines are available for full-time, paid work terms of at least 12 weeks duration. Work terms start in September, January and May. In addition to recruiting employer partners, I work with students in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science to deliver professional skills development seminars, monitor students in meeting work term requirements, implement reflective learning activities, and evaluate student work term performance. I also work closely with academic units at Memorial to help develop new work-integrated educational programming. I contribute to the university community through service on a number of academic and administrative committees, including departmental undergraduate and graduate studies committees as well as the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Undergraduate Studies Committee. My research on perceptions of risk in co-operative education is published in the Journal of Co-operative Education and Internship as well as the Journal of Canadian Higher Education. Through my membership on the Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada Atlantic Research Committee, I have also participated in a number of other research projects about co-operative education in Atlantic Canada.I am a skilled educator, presenter, career advisor, program developer, academic policy analyst and qualitative researcher committed to advancing co-operative education and work-integrated education at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
