At the COVID-19 Action Coalition, our mission was to spread science and physician-based information during the first year of the COVID-19 on the pandemic. In my cross functional role, I worked to coordinate projects with the Conventional and Social Media teams. In overseeing several teams, I advised members in content development, branding and use data analytics to increase engagement and audiences on several social media platforms.

While working in the Neuroimmunology group at Merck, my overarching job was to assist in the characterization of transgenic mouse models for Parkinson’s disease. A large part of my project was to analyze cell stained brain slices of mouse models using HALO imaging software. In addition to this I learned how to perform behavioral assessments on Parkinson’s model mice including rotarod and grip strength tests.

During my time at bluebird bio I worked on the Stem Cell team with the main goal of identifying and alleviating Sickle Cell Disease. In my project I used several assays to assess the survival, differentiation and expansion of hematopoietic stem cells. Additionally I assisted in several other projects involving testing antibodies to identify the sickle allele type of patient blood.

At the Kim Lewis lab I help the staff in their studies relating to persister cells and related drug discovery. I assist with tasks such as micropipetting, making media, bacterial plating, making cell cultures, etc.
