    Adjunct Assistant Professor
City Tech, Cuny Aug 2019 - Dec 2022
    New York City Metropolitan Area
The COMD program at City Tech is design focused. But every creative needs to know how to write and tell the story of their idea in a compelling way. Helping visual creatives learn Copywriting was a unique challenge that I relished. I also taught Portfolio Development in the NYCCT Communication Design program.
  • Save The Internships Ny
    Founder
Save The Internships Ny Apr 2020 - Apr 2021
New York, New York, United States
When the pandemic hit and PR and Ad agencies started shutting down internships, I knew I had to do something. Canceling students' futures before they even got started was not an option. So I created Save The Internships NY in partnership with Pereira O’Dell; The G.R.O.W.T.H. Initiative; and The Advertising Club of NY. Many of the students showcased on the site were enrolled in or recent grads of CUNY public colleges and universities. We challenged the industry to keep its promise to diverse and inclusive talent by hiring them for summer and fall paid virtual internships. The industry rose to the challenge - almost all of the STI candidates found internships or entry-level jobs. A year later, there were so many paid internship opportunities that Save The Internships was no longer needed.
  • Quinnipiac University
    Professional In Residence
    Quinnipiac University Aug 2016 - May 2017
    Hamden, Connecticut
I loved being a Professor at QU. It gave me a chance to bring a real-world, learning by doing approach to the classroom. I taught freshmen and sophomores about Advertising. I also taught seniors and grad students how to solve business problems with Creativity. In addition to teaching, I coached a PR team in the Bateman competition, mentored new grads, and guest lectured on a variety of topics.
  • Speed Mentoring
    Founder
    Speed Mentoring May 2013 - May 2016
    Greater Nyc Area
No matter what industry you're in, or where you are in your career, chances are you could use a little advice now & again. But networking at events or trying to approach people you admire in your workplace – that's just awkward. The truth is, most industry leaders are happy to share what they know, but they just don’t have time to do so on a one-to-one basis. That’s why I created Speed Mentoring™. To help everyone get & give career advice, hack business problems, and exchange ideas – in record time. Live Speed Mentoring events have been offered at multiple 3 percent events, at #SXSW and beyond.
  • The 3% Conference
    Chief Creative Officer
    The 3% Conference Sep 2012 - Dec 2014
    Palo Alto, Ca
The 3% Conference was created to champion female creative talent and leadership. At the annual Fall conference and at MiniCons throughout the year, the goal was to #changetheratio, celebrate women's creative contributions and demonstrate the business imperative of diversity. I was involved with 3 percent almost from the very start and held many titles, including Speaker, Digital Strategist, Director of Social Media, and Chief Creative Officer. I'm proud to say I helped 3% grow quickly from a 1-day Conference for 200 people to a 2-day nationwide Conference, plus multiple live and virtual events each year. In the process, I helped shape the conference programming, designed learning sessions, was a speaker and facilitator, directed the digital, social, content, video and design teams, developed sponsorships, moderated panels, and co-hosted the Super Bowl Tweetup. In my role as a percent programming partner, I also offered Speed Mentoring – which I founded – at 3 percent MiniCons & Conferences.
  • Digitas
    Acd/Copywriter
    Digitas Mar 2011 - Mar 2012
    Greater Boston Area
I was psyched to be hired by two of my creative heros at Digitas - who unfortunately left within weeks of my arrival. Needless to say, the CDs who inherited my team weren't the CDs I signed up to work for. Still, I was able to work on two of America's most beloved P&G brands: Tide & Downy. As an ACD, I led creative teams and collaborated with partner agencies in the pursuit of laundry nirvana. And I got to write - on everything from Downy's digital & social Olympic program, to an online scavenger hunt, to a new product introduction, to "iMedia", to mobile, to always on Facebook posts.
  • Digital Influence Group
    Acd/Copywriter
Digital Influence Group Sep 2008 - Feb 2011
    Greater Boston Area
Social Media was becoming a thing. So I left PJA for DIG, where I helped develop digital marketing programs with social at their core and helped pitch and win new clients. A few of the accounts I worked on included Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, T-Mobile, HBO, IBM, and Genzyme.
  • Pja Advertising + Marketing
    Associate Creative Director
    Pja Advertising + Marketing Jul 2006 - Sep 2008
As an ACD at this health sciences and tech focused B2B ad agency, I juggled interactive, broadcast and print assignments on accounts like Invitrogen, Ore, Boston Scientific, Novell, TriZetto, Luminus, and TAC.
  • Ddb La
    Senior Copywriter
    Ddb La Apr 2004 - Mar 2006
    Greater Los Angeles Area
A former CD lured me back into traditional advertising at DDB. The work my partner Susan Fukuda and I did won bevy of awards, including a One Show gold pencil for a Super Bowl spot.
  • R-Squared
    Freelance Copywriter/Cd
    R-Squared Nov 2000 - Apr 2004
    San Francisco Bay Area
After the dot bomb fell, there was still plenty of work for freelancers. I worked as a hired gun up and down the west coast for a variety of ad agencies and dot com clients on a myriad of creative assignments.
  • Egreetings.Com
    Creative Director
    Egreetings.Com May 1999 - Oct 2000
    San Francisco Bay Area
This web-based greeting card company changed business plans weekly. Thank god I was smart enough to ask for a real salary instead of stock options. My team was responsible for creating the website that pushed out fresh content as well as our own advertising and marketing materials. For the record, the company sold (for about a nickel) to American Greetings.
  • R-Squared
    Freelance Copywriter/Cd
    R-Squared Oct 1997 - Apr 1999
    San Francisco Bay Area
I freelanced my butt off during the dot com era. In fact, I snagged so many juicy, high paying assignments that I was able to pay for pilot training.
  • Publicis & Hal Riney
    Associate Creative Director, Digital
    Publicis & Hal Riney Mar 1996 - Sep 1997
    San Francisco Bay Area
Like most ad agencies at that time, Riney was getting left behind in the dotcom gold rush. So they hired me to build an "interactive" team. I was still learning about this newfangled thing called the Internet. But what I knew was enough to help me creative direct and write award winning websites (and online marketing initiatives) for Sprint, Peet's Coffee & Tea, the first electric car (GMEV1) and Saturn.
  • Anderson & Lembke
    Senior Copywriter
    Anderson & Lembke 1995 - 1996
    San Francisco Bay Area
I was thrilled to work on Microsoft and help launch the very first Internet browser. When A&L was bought by McCann, the agency lost some pieces of the business and it was time to move on to Riney.
  • Team One
    Senior Copywriter
    Team One Jan 1993 - Oct 1995
    Greater Los Angeles Area
How lucky was I to work on Lexus, Yonex tennis and snowboards, and Heal the Bay? My work made regular appearances in Communication Arts and other award pubs. And I won a gold Clio for an Earth Communications Office PSA. Why did I leave? The Internet was born, calling me to work in San Francisco.
  • Rpa
    Copywriter
    Rpa May 1986 - Oct 1992
    Greater Los Angeles Area
You learn most of what you know about advertising at your first job. I was lucky to be hired at rpa to work on Honda with a group of creatives who were as generous as they were talented. I honed my craft in the design group, writing everything from showroom posters, to 32-page brochures, to flip books, to dealer kits, to the occasional video. It was an education that has served me well to this day.
