I am the Executive Director of a non-profit, private school designed specifically for students with learning disabilities. We work with children who struggle with dyslexia, ADHD, and other common learning differences. Lake Michigan Academy is funded through tuition, grants, contributions, and fundraising. In addition to acting as Executive Director, I also serve as the organization's Development Director. I oversee our development committee, manage our annual fund, design and implement fundraising events, while always keeping my eye on cultivating and maintaining donor and volunteer relationships. Before becoming Executive Director at Lake Michigan Academy, I taught middle and high school English for two years. I loved my time in the classroom and I learned so much from my students about persevering. Many misconceptions abound about learning disabilities and I valued the chance to work with such bright and creative kids.
