This role helped me to expand on my IT, marketing, communications, web development and graphics skills. Providing communications consultancy to project managers and teams on several key IT change projects, liaising with senior stakeholders to plan, copy-write and publish messages, targeting staff. I was heavily involved with intranet development, from building websites, publishing news items and director messages to creating web banners. I was also responsible for copy writing, editing and publishing the online IT staff magazine and newsletters. In August 2006, I completed a Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks training course, enabling me to take on more web development. For example, I created a CommunicationsToolkit intranet site, an online guide for IT Project Managers. Also provided communications support for the Norwich Women’s Network launch, reinforcing organisational diversity.

Freeborders develops web-based PLM product development software for the fashion industry. I started at Freeborders on a year long work placement, but stayed on, on a contract basis, until after my degree: Marketing activities for the UK and Europe: content and graphics for brochures and e-newsletters, maintained customer-mailing database and regularly researched competitors’ products and market positioning; put together demonstrations of the software products for sales presentations as well as recording and producing demo CD’s of the software for mailshots. Trained business partners, customers and agencies on Freeborders’ full range of PLM software. Also presented demonstrations to leading retailers, brands and manufacturers for sales purposes.Completed a four-day ‘Export Strategy Development Programme’ course in August 2005: Strategies in Internationalisation,Intellectual Property laws and Internet Marketing (SEO and affi liate marketing techniques).
