I am grateful to have started working in my early teens at my family’s business. The values I learned – hard work, self-motivation, and independence – have served me well in my career. They are the fundamentals that helped me progress to and develop my current role. My design education and subsequent employment opportunities have generated a broad skill set spanning from design to sales and management of various business facets. Whether a small or large group, local or long distance, I am always a member of a team; and my role on the team requires excellent communication and resourcefulness. Efficiency in obtaining, relaying, and organizing information is a critical component in the success of my team, clients, staff, and company. Relationships with and commitments to those I work with are revered.As a designer, I believe it’s critical to continue to progress and innovate. Boundless opportunities exist to discover and evolve. When we allow ourselves to become stagnant, we resign our aspirations. I aim to make the most of the education prospects offered, whether it’s formal training, personal exploration, or a relationship with a skilled team member. Collaboration with engineers and technicians has resulted in a strong mechanical understanding of office furniture components and fuels my ability to customize unique and practical solutions. Beyond learning, I’m appreciative to have acquired a balance in perspective between design and salesmanship. Understanding of a client’s culture and needs can result in a well-tailored design solution but will only be realized when a client’s confidence in the team’s proposal transitions into a business transaction. Personally, I prefer a challenge and am not timid of the hard work, disappointments, and enthusiasm needed to succeed.
