Rebecca Thompson is a full-time Family Services Specialist (Social Worker), currently providing investigative and programmatic case management to children and families at risk of child abuse and/or neglect. Rebecca has considerable experience working with state and local collaborative groups to provide system assessments through mapping; technical assistance in the development of collaborative, multidisciplinary policy teams; and training development and delivery. Rebecca has held various roles in her career to include independent consultant, Evidence-Based Practices Coordinator, and Training Development Coordinator responsible for coordinating the implementation of evidence-based practices in pretrial, local probation, and offender reentry programs at the state level for Virginia and Indiana, and within local systems across the United States. Rebecca has experience in leadership development, training, pretrial legal and evidence-based practices, implementation of validated risk assessments, strategic planning, system mapping, and Evidence-Based Decision-Making (EBDM).Rebecca has provided technical assistance, planning, and evaluation services aimed at harm reduction and improving public safety outcomes, increasing access to expanded Medicaid benefits and treatment services, enhancing data collection and integration into decision-making, and utilizing research evidence for enhanced system functioning and improved outcomes in public safety and public health areas. Rebecca is an EBDM Capacity Builder for the National Institute of Corrections and has facilitated collaborative workgroups to plan for the use of validated and actuarial risk assessments at key decision points across state and local criminal justice systems and designing law enforcement pre-charge diversion programs.Rebecca received her B.S. in Sociology from Longwood University, M.A. in Human Services from Liberty University, and M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University and holds certifications as a Master Trainer from the Association for Talent Development (ATD) and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Step I & II (MBTI) Administrator from the Myers Briggs Foundation (formerly Center for Applications of Psychological Type).
