The Queenstown Chamber is the voice of the business community, supporting and advocating to local and central government on behalf of approximately 600 member organisations. The OM role includes finance management, monthly reporting to the board, membership retention and ensuring a productive environment for the team. Also involved in stakeholder engagement, supporting the successful delivery of events and training activities, and ensuring the ongoing relevance and value the chamber offers to its members.

Working within a small and busy team I provided support to colleagues and the director. Small business management requires broad knowledge encompassing bookkeeping, HR management, marketing, maintaining CRM databases, handling new business enquiries, general business reporting, benchmarking and research into new software and systems that will enable staff to work at their fullest capacity.

In this role I supported the Directors of RPL / The Porter Group to enable them to deliver the company's strategic goals and vision for the development. RPL and The Porter Group own a number of properties including a High Country Station and the 150 hectare Remarkables Park zone, a dynamic mixed use development.

My experience working for local government in the fastest growing region of New Zealand, was incredibly valuable. The unique challenges faced by this Council as a result of immigration, tourism and the associated impacts on infrastructure, exposed me to the "coal face" of growth and development. After this role, I chose to undertake a Masters degree in Business with Management at Northumbria University in the UK, in order to be able to pursue a future role in new business management.

The focus of this role was turning vision into reality. I was seconded to the Kielder Partnership Team to support them in securing funding and marketing Kielder Water & Forest Park as a premier tourist destination.My role involved working with managers from a number of partner organisations, in order to provide a consistent and integrated approach to marketing KW&FP and its various attractions. This consisted of coordinating and attending community group events, liaising with graphic designers to produce brand guidelines, editing and proofreading legal documents and business cases, and communicating with specialist consultants. Massive amounts of planning and constant communication were vital to this project and it's one that I'm really proud to have been part of.As with most projects the deadlines were always tight and the team had to work really hard to ensure that everything was in place so that we could get the government and private funding required, and to ensure attraction launches (such as for the Kielder Observatory) were executed without a hitch!I believe this is where my slight obsession with order began.
