About Rebecca Yang
I build bridges across the tech industry, government, and civil society to solve global challenges. An experienced Chief of Staff and Strategy and Operations leader in the private and public sectors, I have 17+ years of global experience, including serving as a U.S. diplomat and working on Facebook's Global Trust and Safety Operations team. From guiding my team in Istanbul through unprecedented security challenges — a coup attempt, an evacuation, multiple terrorist attacks, and rising anti-Americanism — to leading large-scale strategic initiatives at Amazon Web Services, I excel at leading cross-functional and cross-cultural teams, planning and executing complex projects, and breaking down silos to build bridges across organizations, sectors, and countries. I've won two U.S. State Department awards for my service. In August 2021, I built and led the Truman National Security Project's Afghanistan Flight Manifest Operations team that enabled 1000+ people (Afghans and U.S. citizens) to evacuate safely from Afghanistan. I value people and organizations that do what they say, learn from every “failure,” and believe building inclusion so everyone can achieve their full potential is the right thing to do and a business imperative, not a box-checking exercise. As a daughter of immigrants and the first person in my family to attend college, my North Star is ensuring underrepresented voices are heard and democratizing access to opportunity for everyone.
Listed skills include International Relations, Policy Analysis, Foreign Policy, Politics, and 28 others.
