I’ve always had a passion for curating communities. In college, I majored in Tourism with a concentration in Event Planning and a minor in Marketing. At the time, I wasn't sure where this would lead me, but I knew a few facts to be true: 1. I love connecting people, 2. I’m fascinated by the impact that tourism can have on a place, and 3. I constantly seek out new opportunities to grow.Throughout my time at N.C. State, I spent a lot of time working weddings. I’ve always had a knack for taking photos, editing, writing, and social media as well which drew me to various marketing internships. Almost every company that I interned at probably heard these words: “Do you mind if I help run your social media?”.Once I graduated, I had a hard time giving up the fast paced nature of events, and I continued to work part-time at a wedding venue whilst balancing my 9-5 job at Raleigh Founded. During my two and half years at Raleigh Founded, I took on new opportunities without hesitation. By the end of my time there, I was planning and executing all member events, coordinating external events, planning marketing efforts, curating our social media, and managing inventory for our Gateway property. Most notably, I was honored to have had the opportunity to successfully plan our Ten Year Anniversary celebration with a budget of $10,000 for our stakeholders and founders. I took it upon myself to restructure our new hire training process and increased our Instagram following by 800 followers over the span of 12 months through the creation of a new content strategy. When the opportunity arose to open a new coworking space in downtown Cary, I arranged meetings with members in the community to identify where I could make a positive impact. I identified a need for more communication with the local residents.I created a newsletter for Cary residents that has amassed over 400+ subscribers. I took a similar approach with our Instagram reels and created numerous videos showing off local businesses in the area. I also created monthly Cary Social Hours that I hosted around local bars in DT Cary. I truly believe that the path to success in any industry is to think about how you can help others first. As I began to spotlight these business owners in the area, I fostered genuine relationships with them that led to mutually beneficial business ideas. One idea was to team up with a local artist. Displaying her pieces in our space put more eyeballs on them and got her more exposure, whilst also giving us beautiful art to fill the walls.
