As President and CEO, I provide overall strategic, operational, financial, and managerial responsibility for Civic Consulting Alliance, a nonprofit organization bringing together collaborative investments to get big things done for the Chicago region. I joined the organization as President and CEO after years of contributing to the organization as both a partner providing pro bono consulting services, and as a client who leveraged those services to improve the region’s transportation.About Civic Consulting Alliance: We provide pro bono consulting services that are amplified by the capacity and expertise of our corporate partners. Together, we work to advance systems-level solutions that untangle interconnected issues like economic and educational opportunity gaps, violence, and injustice that affect residents. Led agency of 1400 employees with a $170M annual operating budget responsible for planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of City’s roadways, bridges, traffic signals, street lights, traffic signage and select transit facilities; coordination of all construction in the public way; transportation policy planning and implementation; transportation safety education and advocacy; oversight of Divvy bike share system; and coordination with Class I railroads. Managed implementation of a $200-$400M annual capital program, including transformative projects such as the 606/Bloomingdale Trail; Chicago Riverwalk; Loop Link; Union Station Transit Center; new CTA elevated stations at Washington-Wabash and Cermak Road; citywide “smart” streetlighting modernization; and new pedestrian and bike bridges on the South Lakefront and Chicago River. Collaborated successfully across city departments, sister agencies, and local, state and federal agencies, as well as managed private consultant partners and integrated public engagement, for effective policy and project planning, development, and implementation.Launched major policy initiatives, including new citywide, cross-departmental, data-driven Vision Zero program to eliminate death and serious injuries from traffic crashes; and New Transportation and Mobility Task Force recommendations to effectively plan for and manage the integration of new private mobility services and technologies into the City’s transportation systems.

Responsible for federal, state and local capital grants program and prioritization of $4 billion capital investments. Drafted and negotiated design and construction contracts and other professional services agreements for major public works projects including a new mass transit line and a new major league soccer stadium. Secured legislative and regulatory approvals for zoning and other land use changes for major hospital redevelopment. Represented bidders, government entities and lenders in public-private partnerships for new and existing infrastructure assets. Provided extensive pro bono support to the Recovery Partnership initiative between the City of Chicago and the foundation community for maximizing and improving implementation of federal stimulus awards, and for the Chicago 2011 mayoral transition team Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
