I am a PhD candidate in my last year at Notre Dame, looking for roles in industry. My research has focused on building models for the purpose of predicting human affective-cognitive states, such as boredom, engagement, and cases of mind wandering. My current focus is on building neural networks capable of predicting when mind wandering occurs during film viewing. My research consisted of determining which pictures in a collection would be suitable for a photo album, based on the eye movements of individuals as they viewed the pictures. I extended custom-built software and tailored it to the needs of the study, and organized data collection of over 20 individuals. I analyzed the collected data and build machine learning models to predict which pictures were more likely to be suitable for the photo album based on information such as image characteristics and how long people viewed each picture.
