About Rebecca A. Williams

With a research background, I provide my students with real-world science experience, which allows my students to question the world around them. I encourage critical thinking and facilitated learning in my classroom, in order to promote teamwork and future leaders. My interest in teaching comes from an innate love for children and my desire to inspire students to increase their knowledge of science. I understand the struggles that a teenager has to endure inside and outside of the classroom, and I strive to give the extra time and patience needed to become a strong mentor for each child. The ability to connect with my students allows me to provide a classroom that is a safe haven for children to explore another view of the world. In addition, my love for scientific and creative writing enables me to teach my students to strengthen their writing skills for all of their future endeavors. By using the Next Generation Science Standards, I incorporate intensive curriculum to develop critical thinking and strengthen mathematical skills for future college careers. Having experience working with individuals with multiple intelligences, I feel confident adapting my teaching styles to each student’s diverse needs. I will not give up on any child, regardless of their behavior, background, or history.

  • Eastern Kentucky University
Graduate Research Assistant For The Noel Studio For Academic Creativity
Eastern Kentucky University Aug 2014 - Feb 2015
    Richmond, Kentucky
My role as research assistant was to provide the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity and the division of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors a connection to the students and faculty in order to assist them in developing successful mentorships. Many students do not realize that EKU is a research facility, and given the smaller classroom size, the faculty are able to engage their undergraduate students at a graduate level. This provides undergraduate students opportunities to have mentorships in their areas of study and cross-disciplinary projects outside of the classroom that they will not receive anywhere else! My goal was to facilitate these mentorships throughout campus in order to increase the student’s success in their future careers and movement into graduate school. This position also involved performing webmaster duties to keep current and prospective students aware of EKU's success. In addition, I assisted with research and assessment in the Noel Studio by analyzing and interpreting data into manuscript writing.
