The Thursday Luncheon Group (TLG) was founded in 1973 to increase the participation of African Americans and other minorities in the formulation, articulation, and implementation of United States foreign policy.  TLG is the Department of State's oldest employee affinity group. Their 500 members monitor recruitment, assignments, employment practices, promotion patterns, training, and other personnel matters of vital interest to minorities in the principal foreign affairs agencies: the Department of State and the Agency for International Development.

The ​International Career Advancement Program is a professional development and leadership program for highly promising mid-career professionals in international affairs in the United States, sponsored by the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver and by the Aspen Institute.

• Planned Capitol Hill advocacy days. Aided in the development and implementation of advocacy strategies, including scheduling and preparing for meetings on Capitol Hill, monitoring, researching and tracking relevant legislation in Congress. • Oversaw the development and maintenance of SHRM’s Governmental Affairs website and e-newsletter.• Led the research, writing, and distribution of public policy email alerts and reports for volunteer leaders on public policy trends.• Developed and implemented a comprehensive grassroots advocacy strategy, which included encouraging SHRM volunteer leaders to participate in organizing activities. Special Project:• Co-Chaired the Americans with Disabilities Act Alliance Grassroots Task Force, a coalition that successfully advocated for the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008
