Businessrestructuring and cut backs of my former employer persuaded me to ‘giveit a go on my own', however just before embarking on that route I wasintroduced to the owner of this company, who persuaded me to head uphis, not yet established, Hazardous waste division. Since starting, manyestablished companies chose to continue using my expertise and I alsoincreased the company profile by attracting new customers. Monthlyturnover has regularly exceeded sales targets, and I have brought in manylarge industrial clean-outs and de-commissions, through my everincreasing network of contacts. During February 2008, I was activelyinvolved with the setting up of the hazardous side of a large transferstation, planning the requisites of the EA and local authority and the riskassessments and method statements for the internal bulking/transfer ofhazardous wastes. I am up to date on all current legislation and cancompile my own consignment notes, quotes, waste assessment forms,analysis, trem cards, etc. I am competent in all sampling techniques,Fluorescent tube crushing machines and other aspects of health andsafety procedures. Recently I obtained and supervised the decommissionwork for an acid plant within the confines of a manufacturing site in theSwansea area, the job was worth £1,160,000. I also travel to the Northregularly to audit and remove waste from site's that were also managed bythis company.
