"In my room there is a bookshelf overflowing with the words of great poets and humble lesser known writers and playwrights; Walt Whitman and Mary Oliver, and Andrew Bovell, and David Sedaris, and Joan Didion, and Roddy Doyle. I have marinated in their imagery and dialogue. The words of Charles Bukowski have saved and swallowed me. Andre Aciman has taught me to use every word possible without saying “love”, and how to carry the heaviness of heartbreak in its absence. I struggle to convey aloud how I feel because when I do it is greeted with confused stares at the nature in which I speak. In short, I’m better on paper. When people ask me what I do, I say I’m a writer, because I am. It is embedded into my DNA as much as any fine line on my fingers. The name Brair Rabbit comes from my brother."
