Ambulance staff are trained by the Scottish Ambulance Service's (SAS) Civil Contingencies Response Team (CCRT) to respond to major incidents involving Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNe) material as part of the clinical decontamination team. In these instances, a rappel crew may be called on to respond to the fire. Firefighters rappel from a helicopter in flight adjacent to the fire to take immediate action. Additionally, rappel crews may be utilized to build helipads allowing helicopters to land and deliver other personnel and equipment to difficult to access fires.Firefighters utilize a variety of helicopter and firefighting skills on a regular basis and are certified in BC RapAttack operations including Rappelling, Hoist Extraction and Deployment, Longline Operations, Human Extraction, Heli Tanking Offloads and Medevac/SKED Extractions. Grouse Mountain Resorts in North Vancouver, BC is a four season operational resort that participates in a wide range of both summer and winter activities. As a full time professional Ski Patroller, we are responsible for the safety of both guests and staff at the resort.
