Ambulance staff are trained by the Scottish Ambulance Service's (SAS) Civil Contingencies Response Team (CCRT) to respond to major incidents involving Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNe) material as part of the clinical decontamination team. This involves erecting clinical decontamination facilities, donning gas tight suits and assessing, treating and decontaminating CBRNe affected patients through an entry control point. The SAS require all CCRT clinical decontamination staff to take part in refresher training every 6 months to remain current.

RapAttack (Rappel/Rapid Attack) - Wildfires will occur in areas that are difficult to access, either on foot or by vehicle and where there are no suitable landing areas for helicopters nearby. In these instances, a rappel crew may be called on to respond to the fire. Firefighters rappel from a helicopter in flight adjacent to the fire to take immediate action. Additionally, rappel crews may be utilized to build helipads allowing helicopters to land and deliver other personnel and equipment to difficult to access fires.Firefighters utilize a variety of helicopter and firefighting skills on a regular basis and are certified in BC RapAttack operations including Rappelling, Hoist Extraction and Deployment, Longline Operations, Human Extraction, Heli Tanking Offloads and Medevac/SKED Extractions. Grouse Mountain Resorts in North Vancouver, BC is a four season operational resort that participates in a wide range of both summer and winter activities. As a full time professional Ski Patroller, we are responsible for the safety of both guests and staff at the resort. As a department we are trained and involved in Mountain Rescue, Rope Rescue, Tower Climbing, Chairlift Evacuation and Avalanche Control/Rescue. We are tasked with providing first aid and primary care within the ski resort, snowshoe park, grouse grind and surrounding backcountry. We have access to a vast range of medical and trauma supplies that allow us to perform complex emergency first aid as well as access to various rescue equipment types for hazardous environment patient extractions.
