At Redland Studios we are passionate about animation. VFX, 2D, 3D, Motion Graphics and creating educational content. We are located in Miami, down South and out West in the agricultural area called Redland. Surrounded by tropical fruit trees, we are constantly finding inspiration in this natural setting.

Special Effects, Animation, Motion Graphics, Design, and Graphics solutions.Opossum Effects is a play on the expression "Awesome Opossum". The Opossum is also a most incredible creature, the only american marsupial, and it's just an amazingly adaptable animal.

I have been working with Discovery for Latin America as a freelance graphics and special effects animator. We have developed various graphics campaigns. The most important for me was the Animal Planet Global campaign, where we integrated graphic titles into existing environments under the direction of Veronica Acosta.We also developed various scripts to automate some of the work performed there. In particular the automatic generation of slates from a spreadsheet ( Federico Reinfeld's concept )Worked on various packages developing toolkits for Discovery Kids, Discovery Channel, Home & Health, and liv.

Working with a great team of talented artists. We are constantly designing, creating and re-versioning a wide variety of promos specifically for the Discovery Channel for our various feeds in Latin America. Some of the campaigns that I've been involved in include North America, Jungle Gold, El Asesinato de Pancho Villa, Turbo, and the list goes on. It is great fun to work here.

VFX, commercial work for Hispanic AT&T, VW, McDonalds,amongst others...

Special Effects on various television commercials. These typically included adding content to cell phones for AT&T spots, cleaning up footage, logo removal, logo enhancement, logo placement, wire removal, graphics design, and animation.

Special Effects, compositing, animation. Flame, After Effects, Cinema 4D, Matchmover, and other handy tools.

It has been a priviledge to work at deep blue sea on various challenging projects. I worked with Kyle Reynolds, and Victor Melton in the most recent years. They are a fantastic team under the helm of Carlos Rondon.

Typically I was called in to work on special projects. From News and Sports, to special events such as "Premio Lo Nuestro", "Premio Juventud", "Selena".

Jamee Houk was eventually was replaced by Alexis Salinas. With Alexis was getting deeper into Softimage animation. In our last project together we animated a dancing elephant. Alexis went down to Venezuela to do the motion capture. Meanwhile in Miami we got Viewpoint to create a couple of elephant models for us and hired a guy name Vincent Bilota ( I think ) to help us out. We also had an intern from AFI helping us, learning everything he could, the now renowned Mr. Lee Sullivan.

I worked as an apprentice under the supervision of the incredible animator Miss Jamee Houk. I was really the system administrator for their SGI systems. They had the most awesome machines at the time. The most powerfull was an IRIS 4D with 8 MIPS R3000 33 MHz processors. It was sweet when you could see all the LEDs light up when we were rendering full chola. I still know how to write shell scripts using the vi editor... We would write scripts to simulate particle systems, the scripts would create scripts to be run in the "Wavefront" Animaton software. We generated bubbles for one spot, and ice crystals for another. I remember we used to work closely with the creator of the program "waveman", and interface between "Wavefront" and "Renderman". After "Wavefront" we jumped on the "Softimage" bandwagon, and we were learning a whole new world of animation."Thanks for everything Jamee"
