I have worked for nonprofits continuously since 2012, and have helped countless people throughout that work; from tutoring elementary-aged children, to transporting disabled adults to doctor’s appointments, to directly caring for those with severe, persistent mental illness and intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and the community.

    CRI provides Companion, In Home/Community, and Community Participation support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities along with other physical disabilities. The DA program works in partnership with other agencies to provide services to clients including:- Financial assistance with emergency needs for utilities, food, and prescription medications- Case management with budgeting coaching- Referrals to other NNH and community programs as appropriate (work readiness, resume development, job -search help, interviewing skills, and an on-site GED/HiSET tutoring and acquisition)- Follow-up phone calls to check on clients’ progressServing the largest numbers of clients of any staff in Direct Assistance during my time as Case Manager, I personally managed over 415 unduplicated households with bills totaling over $107,900. $3,750 of those funds were through the congressional Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP), funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Total food assistance accounted for 492 clients with more than 10,800 meals. I also coordinated Chattanooga's monthly CEAP (Coalition of Emergency Assistance Providers) meetings. We would meet with several local organizations that provide services to Chattanooga residents. CSUs provide facility-based, voluntary services that offers 24-hour, seven day-a-week, intensive, short-term stabilization and behavioral health treatment for people 18 and older whose behavior health condition does not meet the criteria for involuntary commitment to a psychiatric hospital or other treatment resource.Volunteer's Crisis Stabilization Unit has recited CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accreditation and is licensed through the Tennessee Department of Mental Health.In Discharge Planning, I worked with each client individually each day to assist them in the transition from in-patient care back into the community based on their strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences. These duties included; scheduling after care and follow up appointments with outpatient clinics, referring clients to various Alcohol and Drug treatment options for those with co-occurring disorders, referrals to Primary Care Physicians, Peer Support education, and assisting clients without insurance in applying for Behavioral Health Safety Net if eligible.As a Psych Tech, my primary role was providing hands-on care to people with varying degrees of mental illnesses and/or developmental disabilities. I collaborated personally with Chattanooga's city mayor, Andy Berke, as well as several other community partners to provide the most outstanding, quality care to the mental health population in Chattanooga.Some of my direct duties as supervisor were; maintaining an active role as a community case manager half time and direct supervision of my staff the other half, assigning appropriate case managers to clients, quality assurance and quality improvement of client care throughout the Adult and Children Youth and Family clinics in Hamilton County, referring clients to services both in-house and in the community, maintaining and budgeting client assistant grants through the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, as well as public speaking and representation of HRMC throughout the East Tennessee area both in person and on camera for local news interviews.The Helen Ross McNabb Center was the first community mental health center awarded CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accreditation in the state of Tennessee 16 years ago.
