Presently, my primary focus is cross-domain systems engineering work on Fuchsia OS.Until mid-2023, I ran Google’s engineering effort in Labs which focused on researching and prototyping retail central bank digital currency (CBDC) and contributing to the global discussion. This work culminated in an open source project: https://github.com/google/briolette I still actively contribute both to the project and as the company’s domain expert.From 2020 to 2021, I focused on strategic security and privacy investments across the Payments organization -- from COVID Passes to sensitive platform integrations.From 2018 into 2020, I took a detour to learn more about the finance and payments space. During that time, I built an engineering presence for Payments, called Finance Platform, and Google Finance in NYC while working closely with our teams in Bangalore to expand our users' access to affordable credit via efforts like Axis Bank's ACE card. Until late 2018, I was the Engineering Director/Tech Lead of Google's Device Security Group. We're responsible for Pixel and Chrome OS product security engineering as well embedded, secure OS development projects like Android's Trusty TEE and Titan M. Over that time, we shipped Pixel 2, Pixelbook, Pixel 3 w/Titan M, Pixel Slate w/Titan C.Three years before, I helped kickstart the Brillo (now Android Things) developer experience and security direction.For the six years prior, built and led security and privacy engineering for Chrome OS, contributing both as leadership and across the technical stack from the Linux kernel (dm-verity, seccomp-bpf) to system services (tlsdated v2, cryptohome, minijail, ...) to the user experience. In the years preceding, work varied from security code auditing to compliance, from building a internal systems security team in Ireland to building large scale syslog analysis systems, from building software fault isolation mechanism to writing software to discover faults.
