My research interests include all aspects of public international law, although my work has come to especially focus on the law of the sea and aspects of international legal theory. My notable publications include: Legal Fictions in International Law (Elgar: 2021); Islands, Law and Context: The Treatment of Islands in International Law (Elgar 2023) (co-authored with Professor Sir Malcolm D. Evans), in addition to a number of peer-reviewed papers and other academic work. I served as the Specialist Adviser to the House of Lords International Relations and Defence Committee in its inquiry into the law of the sea (2021-2022) and I am also an Academic Fellow of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple.
