Working as a freelance software developer. Most recently, I analyzed U.S. census data from IPUMS for Thomas Economic Policy and Data Consulting in Brooklyn, NY. Also, I worked in Dash and Python on the UI for a program that analyzes investing strategies for an AAII user group. I'm also working in R with OpenElections to create the first free, comprehensive, standardized, linked set of election data for the United States. My code for that project is at https://github.com/openelections/openelections-data-tx/tree/master/r-parsers . Other recent work has been on R Shiny apps that analyze election data. The first of the two apps uses the leaflet R package to create maps of states and congressional districts. Two of my prior freelance contracts were done through Upwork.com with X2AI and Emonalytics, listed below. Both of these contracts were with R and Shiny but I also work with Python, Java, and C++. Worked remotely on a collaborative tool for scientists, written in collaboration with the Computer Science Department and medical school at UC Davis. The tool is written in R and Shiny and will likely use JavaScript as well. • C++: Maintained and did additional development of Routing Server, a C++ program which routes business objects to queues or users according to a user-defined set of rules.• Chief programmer on project to convert all of the C++ infrastructure code, including hundreds of files, from 32-bit to 64-bit code to run on an HP-UX Itanium system.• Worked on project to port the same C++ infrastructure code to the LINUX platform.• Worked in foundation group on C++ and Java infrastructure code.• Java: Sole developer of Autodestination Servlet, a Java servlet which duplicated the functions of existing code to process "classic rules" and accessed the routing server code via a DLL to process "routing rules".• Worked on numerous other Java projects including upgrade of databases, server-side Java code and conversion of client code from JavaScript to "smart client".• Database: Worked on numerous performance issues to speed up the upgrade of data in large, multi-million row databases.• Security: Worked on Java code to protect against SQL injection and limit and monitor access to encrypted data.• Windows: Most development done on Windows-NT, 2000, 2003, XP, and 7.• UNIX: Created makefiles to build Routing Server on HP-UX and AIX and did development on Solaris, HP-UX, and AIX.
