Creating the world's most sustainable furniture

I started Belu with the goal of creating the world's most eco-friendly drinks company. Belu’s environmental achievements included creating the world’s first carbon neutral brand, launching the UK’s first compostable bottles made from corn sugar, promoting PVC-free bottle caps and committing all profits to fund clean water projects. Other commercial achievements as Managing Director include: Overseeing all aspects of business including R&D, manufacturing, logistics, sales, marketing, website, legal, financial, admin, life cycle-assessments, PR campaigns, financial auditing and successfully managed 15 person staff.Won over 400 accounts including Tesco and Waitrose achieving sales of over 500,000 bottles per month.Grew company from sales of £8,000 in 2004 to profitability in 2008 with sales of £2.7m (audit by KPMG). Won numerous design awards: 2004 International Brand Packaging, 2004 Shine Awards, 2004 Creative Arts Award for Excellence.Belu has received extensive media coverage including profiles on CNN and Time Magazine.Belu has donated over £5 million to fund clean water projects around the world.

I initiated Anti-Fracking effort in West Sussex; helping battle Celtique Energie in Fernhurst and UKOG in Markwells Wood. Led PR campaign against UKOG and organized debate with politicians, ecologists and petro-chemical engineers. Arranged vote leading to local community rejecting fracking and Portsmouth Water and the Environment Agency opposing oil drilling. Efforts contributed to both oil companies backing out of local region (for now).

Ecocap has developed and patented a more recycable bottle cap. Currently working towards commercial trials.

Covered hundreds of stories ranging from the US Presidential campaign to water pollution in New York.Conducted interviews with personalities ranging from Buzz Aldrin and Jesse Jackson to Ehud Barak, Robin Williams and Robert Kennedy Jr.

Produced feature-length, award-winning documentary film about US foreign policy, shot in 14 warzones on five continents. The film won “Best Documentary” at the 1999 Slamdance Film Festival and the Audience Award at the 1999 Chicago Underground Film Festival. Amerikan Passport was released in the US by the Independent Film Channel, and internationally by Canal Plus in over 20 countries.

I imported and sold textiles from Central and South America at music events and college campuses to finance my documentary film.
