Quality Assurance ManagerThe Marsden Group Feb 2020 - Mar 2020Houston, Texas, UsAlthough I never served in a quality assurance capacity in my previous companies, I have had many years of system safety and reliability experience. For those who know, safety, reliability, and quality assurance are all related. QA was a pretty easy role to step into for The Marsden Group when it was offered to me in August 2019. I was serving unofficially as the QA Manager until the official announcement in a organizational change in February 2020. I was prepping the company to pass the ISO and IECEx audits due during the summer of 2020. I organized check sheets and work instructions for multiple product lines. I also instituted a Problem Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (PRACAS) not long before I was laid-off. I was also tracking metrics for failures of components both in-house and in the field to help better predict reliability in support of warranty predictions. -
Senior Reliability EngineerThe Marsden Group Apr 2017 - Feb 2020Houston, Texas, UsAs the senior reliability engineer for The Marsden Group, I was responsible for developing fault trees and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) worksheets for various clients. I also occasionally had a hand in predicting failures by utilizing customer data in Weibull analyses. -
Subsea Reliability EngineerNoble Drilling May 2012 - Sep 2016Sugar Land, Tx, UsWhile working for Noble, I developed and implemented Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents to guide rig personnel in various tasks from basic root cause analysis to proper data collection after equipment failures. I also led Noble personnel through Cause Mapping of major incidents to determine root causes and assign actions to resolve problems and prevent problems from recurring.Additionally, I conducted sparing analyses of critical parts for subsea components, conducted wear-out predictions of existing subsea components in order to better guide Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities, developed Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) worksheets for Noble subsea components, was active member of IADC subcommittees for resolving common nomenclature for subsea components across all companies in the industry, helped develop common data collection form that is being used in the subsea failure reporting database in use by drillers and operators that collects failure data for trends and predictions, and was a representative to a special Noble/NOV uptime improvement working group specifically geared at addressing top downtime issues in subsea and actively working together to correct those problems in order to improve uptime. -
Senior Component Reliability EngineerUnited Airlines Aug 2011 - May 2012Chicago, Il, UsI conducted root cause analyses of component hardware issues on Continental aircraft (737, 757, 767, and 777), produced reliability predictions, and provided other reliability inputs to the United engineering, purchasing, and fleet engineering teams. -
Lead Reliability, Maintainability, And Supportability EngineerLockheed Martin Nov 2007 - Oct 2010Bethesda, Md, UsI worked as the Project Orion/Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) Lead Reliability, Maintainability, and Supportability (RMS) Engineer, primarily responsible for activities pertaining to the Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS). In this capacity, I utilized Systems Analysis Programs for Hands-on Integrated Reliability (SAPHIRE) to develop ECLSS fault tree models for Loss of Mission (LOM) and Loss of Crew (LOC) scenarios. I also led Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) development for Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) by ensuring what is provided by the subcontractors is in-line with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) requirements and integrating the subcontractor deliverables into a deliverable report.Additionally, I provided input to ECLSS trade studies and other design considerations to help ECLSS engineering assess the pros and cons of a design while taking into account the effects on reliability. I also worked closely with Hamilton Sundstrand in order to foster a close partnership between Lockheed Martin and Hamilton Sundstrand that allowed for risks to be identified early and to be mitigated through corrective actions.Lastly, I provided guidance to LMES RMS engineering team members on various reliability related matters from scheduling and processes to conducting proper FMEA/CIL analyses. -
Senior System Safety And Reliability EngineerJacobs Technology Apr 2007 - Nov 2007Dallas, Tx, UsI worked for NASA Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) as a Senior System Safety and Reliability Engineer. This involved writing Risk Assessment Executive Summary Reports (RAESRs) for the following projects: Space Shuttle Tile Overlay Repair, Expanded Range Ammonia Detection Kit, AN/PRC-112G Crew Handheld Radio Upgrade, and the Shuttle Crew Escape Equipment Communication System. I additionally conducted continuous event-driven technical reviews to help define each project such that it satisfied the needs of the NASA customer within acceptable risk and also presented RAESRs to Jacobs internal review boards and NASA safety panels for approval and implementation. In addition to writing RAESRs and championing them through the proper approval process, I supported System Readiness Reviews, System Design Reviews, testing, and technical meetings as the system safety expert. -
