My job is to take customer complaints, requests, inquiries and thoughts about the bank. As well as this I assist them with anything they need.

As an academic PAL I helped students with their essays, projects and studying for exams in English, psychology and education courses. As an accessibility PAL I created a ‘how to use’ video for one of their equipment, The Clear Reader, and focused on a visually impaired student. I helped her with her studies, mostly helping her revise for exams by sitting with her and teaching her in different ways. As well, I assisted a deaf girl, sitting in and taking notes in her classes, that provided her with opportunities to participate in class and ensured she doesn’t miss any important matters.

I interned at the above foundation for 8 weeks as part of my degree completion requirement. I worked in two Departments, the Research and the Care & Rehab. At the Research Department, I assisted in preparing reports and ensured good attendance to events organized by the foundation, one of which was the “Global Child” Forum. For this event, I was charged with looking for suitable moderator, gathering information about the speakers, the sponsors and attended the event. I created a “human trafficking awareness” video for the Department to use in workshops and lectures outside the foundation. In the Care & Rehab Department, I organized activities for clients, accompanied counselor to workshops, interviewed clients and sat in on play therapy sessions.

I attended the camp for five days where I worked with children with special needs. These children ranged from those with autism to others who had cerebral palsy. We engaged the children in various activities that included but were not limited to sensory art, gardening, animal therapy and physical therapy. I was charged with the responsibility of a girl who had a rare genetic disorder that mimicked autism. I shadowed and assisted her with her work, while working with the psychologist to teach her new skills. I managed to assist her learn how to ask for things and use her words.
