In 2008, at the start of my career, I gained valuable experience in Customer Service working as a Target sales associate at the age of 16. After graduating from high school in Charlotte, NC I relocated to Winston-Salem, NC to begin my college career at Winston Salem State University where I majored in Secondary English Education. While in college I continued my retail career, first becoming an Assistant Manager at Charming Charlie for four years before moving on to a Store Manager position at Nine West. During my junior year of college, I redirected my academic focus, shifting from a major in Education to pursuing a B.A. in English. I learned that I was passionate about pursuing literature and language in a way that allowed me to bridge the worlds of journalism and digital content. Understanding that the world wide web has a major impact on how society relays information lead to the decision to design my first website, UrbanPopJunkie.com. I created a digital magazine where I would publish content dedicated to various aspects of pop culture (e.g., music, fashion, social media, celebrities, politics and more). Although I dreamed my website would go on to become a renowned and top-rated digital magazine, it would land me my first corporate contract position in 2015, working as a Digital Content Specialist for Verizon. Through this journey, I cultivated my passion for digital content development and discovered how I could leverage my education and self-taught website building skills to kickstart a career that continues to ignite my passion to this day.Since then, I have continued to pursue a career in Digital Content Development and gained years of experience working with Content Management Systems on a major scale for companies like Verizon, Wells Fargo and BAE Systems. In 2021, I attained the position of Senior Content Management Professional where I’m able to utilize my experience in Content Management, Digital Marketing, Communication, Customer Service and Business Operations. My professional experience has taught me how to identify growth strategies and integrate resources to achieve organizational objectives. One of the most exciting aspects of my career is leveraging communication, innovative ideas, and technology to improve efficiency, productivity, and content engineering.
