About Reet Pärgma

The luckiest break I ever got was getting hired as a journalist right after college. I didn't have anything specific that I was excellent at; all I had was an incredible (read: stubborn and annoying) curiosity and the ability to notice tiny, important details in a mass of information. The highlights of my five-year career as a business journalist were searching through data leaks for suspicious transactions and covering money laundering in Estonian banks.Then, I moved on to the public sector to see how the other half - communication - operates. At the Estonian Tax and Customs Board, I prepared crisis communication plans, wrote press releases, organized press conferences, and taught government employees how to give interviews and interact with the media. Overall, I had fun making a relatively dull topic, like taxes, as interesting as possible by showing people the value of their hard-earned money creates.Now, I've gathered everything I've learned so far to enjoy the freedoms of freelancing (the same work as before, just 10x more stress :)). I help companies create content, get their stories published in Estonian or British media, and create PR-strategies and communication plans etc.
