About Diane Reynolds

Diane Reynolds, LMFT, CA Center-endorsed IFECMHS and RPF II, is a program developer, trainer, and facilitator in Mindful Parenting Groups and Reflective Practice, Supervision, and Leadership. She has spent three decades introducing parents, providers, schools, and organizations to a mindful and reflective approach to care. Publications include the Journal of Child Psychotherapy “Mindful Parenting: a group approach to enhancing reflective capacity in parent-infant dyads” (2003), a co-authored chapter in Handbook of Psychodynamic Approaches to Psychopathology (Luyten, et al, 2015), and the co-authored 2016 Infant Mental Health Journal article "Reflecting Together: Reflective Functioning as a Focus for Deepening Group Reflective Supervision." Ms. Reynolds has introduced Mindful Parenting Groups to Early Head Start, foster-adoptive families, the child welfare community, and moms with co-occurring disorders in L.A. and Ventura Counties, as well as in Queensland, Australia. She launched Reflective Praxis Consulting in 2017 to support growing demand for professional development, organizational consultation, implementation support, and coaching in reflective practice, supervision, and leadership. Reflective practice creates brave spaces for teams to think together about their work and its impact on those they serve—as well as on providers themselves. Ms. Reynolds sees reflective practice as a platform for multi-disciplinary teams to engage in deeply context-informed, socially transformative, reflective conversations—about race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, ability, class, poverty, immigration, incarceration, trauma, and more—in the service of more authentic collaboration with, and better outcomes for, families served. Ms. Reynolds has brought training, consultation, and coaching in reflective practice, supervision, and leadership to primary and secondary educational settings, gang intervention, home visitation staff across Los Angeles County DHS, DPH, and DPSS, through First 5 LA and Los Angeles Best Babies Network. More recently, Diane has supported the City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, SPIRITT Family Services, Childcare Resource Center, and Westside Infant Network to implement reflective supervision and leadership within their organizations. Additionally, Diane is a member of the Reflective Supervision Collaborative, where she co-developed and serves as faculty and mentor for a scalable, nationwide, online reflective supervision curriculum and training for multi-disciplinary providers in the infant-family early childhood field.

RCP offers tailored trainings to enhance relationships amongst providers and within systems targeting optimal child and family outcomes. Created to meet the evolving needs of diverse organizations, RCP implements reflective principles and practices in the service of improving staff retention, effectiveness, quality of services, and flow of organizational dynamics. Large-scale home visiting programs, hospital community resource centers, residential treatment facilities, multi-partner mental health systems, early childhood education centers as well as elementary schools have all benefited from the tailored RCP training approach. By increasing the reflective capacities of direct care providers, supervisors, and administrators, we aim to better equip entire systems with the resilience, responsiveness, and flexibility they need to most effectively serve children and families.
