I am a PhD student in the Department of Social, Behavioral, + Population Sciences at Tulane University. My work integrates critical legal feminist theory, social/legal epidemiology, and behavioral sciences to address mental health, menstrual, maternal, and reproductive health inequities. Further, I study maternal and reproductive psychology, situated within the political and structural determinants of health frameworks. I focus on rural, resource scarce settings in the U.S. I also prioritize female sx workers, mothers engaged in sx work, women facing homelessness, individuals using substances and/or impacted by severe mental health needs, caregivers in prisons, reentry programs, and transitional housing, women impacted by the carceral continuum, and those residing in rural areas/maternity care deserts. My three-part master’s thesis at Columbia University focused on the preconception to postpartum needs of female sx workers (FSW), maternal mental health and matresence among mothers in sx work, and healthcare experiences and access among SWers. I completed my MPH practicum as the Sid Lerner Women's and Adolescent Health Fellow studying perimenopause with GATE. I was formerly a Research Associate at Yale’s Child Study Center for HOPE (Health Omics and Perinatal Epidemiology). At Columbia, I was a part of Averting Maternal Death and Disability (AMDD), Khora Lab (Maternal and Reproductive Psychology), and supported Dr. Kelli Stidham Hall’s NIH-funded study on community engaged approaches to maternal morbidity from sepsis + Dr. John Santelli’s project on adolescent fertility trends. I also work for ARRWIP (Advocacy and Research on the Reproductive Wellness of Incarcerated People) at Johns Hopkins. I am the program manager for Global Health Promises’ Maternal and Child Health Program for FSW and a policy analyst at the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health. I am the site lead for Tulane through the Cross-Center Collaboration for Justice Involved Women and Children. I am an adjunct instructor at Auburn University in the Public and One Health Program and co-lead the Student Caregiver Initiative and the Caregiver Empowerment Lab. I am a part of research teams at Columbia, Tulane, and Johns Hopkins and consult for a variety of organizations across the Southeast.
