Partner Support Representative
Order Management Specialist
Entering the 2 tier distribution world was daunting but exciting. It was completely different from the customer facing role that I was used to but it gave me the opportunity to test my skills and learn some new abilities. I still got to work closely with my coworkers but everything was done through email and online portals. I was trained on multiple vendor lines at first. Once my supervisor took note of my skills, they assigned me to Mitel Networks Orders Box. Mitel is known for their many order requirements and special circumstances making their order processing a bit more challenging. I rose to the occasion with confidence knowing that I already had the computer competency and was comfortable staying organized and setting priorities. I easily fell into a rhythm and often was in the top 5 order processors when they measured order count each week. I was quick to find the issue when we were unable to process the order, knew the path to resolution, and was able to effectively communicate that with the sales representative. Working on the order management team allowed me to communicate with multiple segments and understand the basics of the company. I was able to learn how to work within Salesforce, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and SAP. I gained a lot of confidence in myself stepping outside of my comfort zone and leaving my Texas Roadhouse Family. I learned that it is my work ethic and array of skills that allows me to fill any role and thrive there.
Training Coordinator/ Manager
Taking on a leadership role is where I ultimately began to shine. I was responsible for the introduction of company policies and procedures for all new employees. I really enjoyed getting to be the first face that they got to associate with the company. This enabled me to make sure they knew that Texas Roadhouse Management had people who cared and were prepared to support them. At orientation, I used games and fun facts to introduce the group to each other to begin building positive working relationships and tear down the monotony of paperwork. I have a exceptional skill of describing information and situations in a way that is easy to understand and I used that to my advantage when I took an active role in creating the training materials that were provided to all employees when they started. I made sure to appropriately select and properly educate all of our training staff in order to ensure that new employees received the best introduction to the expectations of a Texas Roadhouse employee. I wanted the new recruits to feel knowledgeable and confident working their positions after they completed their training. During the dinning hours, I ensured the experience was legendary for all guests while constantly coaching the staff and making an effort to keep employees motivated. I learned that open communication is important in the workspace and tried my best to recognize when someone was doing an outstanding job. I constantly was asking for feedback from others in order to help improve my management style and skills.
Server/Bartender
Serving at Texas Roadhouse taught me invaluable social skills. Not only was I speaking in front guests each shift and taking control of the conversation while at the table, I was also building lifelong friendships with my coworkers. I am currently roommates with one of my coworkers I met in 2013 and I've helped two of my old coworkers get jobs at my current company. Creating a positive atmosphere is so important when you're in a fast paced work environment and having those relationships to lean into really helped keep up my can-do attitude. I learned what good teamwork is during those long shifts. I definitely held my own when it came to side work and getting things closed down/cleaned up at the end of the night. Working together to help get food ran in a timely manner and keeping stocked on to-go boxes, tea, ice, etc. throughout the shift were key components in having the shift flow smoothly and my team was able to stay efficient and productive when it got busy. My multitasking skills really came into play for these positions and using my prioritizing skills really helped provide the guests with exceptional service.
Hostess/Server
Being a host and server trainer at Texas Roadhouse taught me how to be comfortable taking the lead and communicating with groups of people. One of the important skills I learned as a host was how to be multifaceted and adapt to the situation. Throughout the shift my roles and responsibilities would change depending on the current need. I could be answering phones, rolling silverware, taking to-go orders, leading guests to their table, updating open/clean tables to ensure efficient table turns, etc. I learned how to prioritize customer needs and adjust to whatever would provide the best customer experience. The serving role was pretty similar but was more individually based. I no longer had a team of hosts to rely on and it helped fine tune my time management skills since I had to figure out how to take care of customer needs in a timely fashion on my own. Being a trainer allowed me to take my learned skills and turn them into teachable moments.
