Beginning after Chinese New Year, I have been appointed Head of Beijing Rego British School. I am currently leading a newly founded and growing school. I currently continue to teach Year 7 maths as well as perform all the duties of a Head. Many of these duties are the same as previously listed in the school co-ordinator role, however, I am also now tasked with school finance, marketing, admissions, and reports to both the Executive Principal (based in Shanghai) and Head Office (based in Tianjin). I recently completed an entirely new marketing book for BRBS to inform parents of our programmes and curriculum. I am currently working to bring in new data monitoring tools to assess pupil progress, updating the overall look and design of the school, and planning school open days and spring functions.

During this period for BRBS, I experienced a leadership role under the direction of the school principal. I was charged with most of the day-to-day running of BRBS including creation of entrance exams for new students, all timetabling including teacher covers, duty rotas, creation of handbooks and policies, as well as student discipline, parent contact and staff relations. In addition to this, I continued to teach a full timetable myself.

Experience teaching KS3, IGCSE and A-Level Maths with both EdExcel and CIE. At BRBS, I was introduced to the UK National Curriculum. While terminology and course content is slightly different, I adapted quickly to the curriculum and was able to be highly successful during exams. Because this was an international school setting, having experience with a different curriculum was good for my students. Classroom discussion was more of a global context rather than simply UK methodology or US methodology. I was able to incorporate 21st century technology such as smart boards, laptops and cell phones into classroom use to help students become more successful.

8th Grade Math, Algebra II, PreCalculus and AP Calculus AB teacher. I was responsible for all standard classroom duties, including creation of student-centred and differentiated lessons, fostering a positive learning environment, student assessment and growth monitoring both with curriculum standards and state standards, and open communication with parents regularly. Achieved excellent standarized testing scores every year.During this time I also served as department chair and a Region 15 Mentor Teacher. As department chair, I was responsible for helping other teachers with assessment data and lessons as needed, selection of scholarship recipients and logging and assigning student calculators, as well as other duties as needed. As a mentor teacher, I attended numerous best practice workshops and mentored other teachers in the district and around the region. I also served on the District Site Based Committee as well as the DATE Grant Incentive Committee. I lead the Varsity Cheerleaders during this time as well to multiple awards at summer camps, including Best Cheer, Best Home Routine, Best Fight Song, and the team leadership award.
