Responsible for the direct supervision of more than 30 employee’s as well as daily operations of 20+ facilities such as PSCs, mobile and in-office phlebotomy. Implemented standard operating procedures for phlebotomy services in accordance with Quest Diagnostics guidelines. Ensured all Laboratory testing QA/QC documentation is complete and reviewed as required, perform site visits at all assigned PSCs/ IOPs and mobile phlebotomy sites and document findings. Relocate/open/close PSCs, IOPs. Work closely with sales counterparts in order to maintain and acquire new business.

Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory. Perform/collect venipuncture on pediatrics-geriatrics, H. pylori breath test, 24 hour urine, stool samples, input lab requisitions, look up results. Train interns on phlebotomy skills. Centrifuge necessary blood samples and send off serum and or plasma to be tested.

Input patients labs into the computer system according to the authorizing physicians orders. Stock all blood draw stations. Properly obtain/collect and label blood, blood cultures, urine, stool, and sputum specimens in order for it to be processed in-house (GUH laboratory), Lab corp, Quest Diagnostics, or Mayo laboratory according to the patients insurance. Perform venipuncture on adults, geriatrics as well as pediatrics (heel stick if needed). Check all tubes weekly to insure that none are expired and maintain proper documentation in the log book. Train and sign off 2nd year medical students in phlebotomy twice a year during the spring and summer seasons.

Perform phlebotomy on inpatients, collect blood cultures. Receive and process specimens, centrifuge, transfer specimens to there appropriate area (microbiology,hematology, etc) assist nurses with “hard sticks” (difficult blood draw patients). **part-time**

Performed phlebotomy on geriatrics, adults and pediatrics as well as intramuscular, subcutaneous, & PPD/ Terberculin injections also performed throat cultures, suture removal, collect urine specimens, prepared, processed, labeled and packaged all specimens to be transported in house to the appropriate laboratory within the Johns Hopkins institution or across the country. Maintained a clean and orderly blood lab, disposed of hazardous waste and sharp objects properly, maintained proper inventory of neurological exam tools and requisition forms for test requester by physicians. Also assisted physicians with lumbar punctures.
