The Assistant Director of Preschool & Before and After School Programs is directly responsible tothe Director of Preschool & Before and After School Programs to assist with preschool, ExtendedStudent Services and After School Education and Safety Program in all aspects including but notlimited to the operation and supervision of the education programs including federal, state and fee-based programs, the supervision and evaluation of assigned staff, coordination of special education mainstreaming and inclusion, state licensing and state-funded class compliance.Assist and coordinate the hiring, development, supervision, and evaluation of preschool, beforeand after school programs certificated and classified support staff, as assigned.Assist staff and provide leadership for the instructional program in areas such as curriculumdevelopment, staff development and training, instructional supplies/equipment, and specialprojects for assigned programs.Collaborate with special education department to support mainstreaming and inclusion in thegeneral education preschool classrooms.Assist in preparing and implementing policies, procedures, state licensing and practices, asappropriate for each of the assigned programs and interpret these policies and practices to theBoard, staff and community.Assist the Director of Preschool & Before and After School Programs with parent andstakeholder communication, program marketing, and resolving parent concerns.Assist in completing District and state reports as required.

Provides instruction in varying group sizes and individually in the area prescribed by the school, the district, Education Code, and the California State Department of Education. Diagnoses student needs and implements a program articulated with preceding and following grade levels which is aimed at serving those needs.Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learningatmosphere in the classroom.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials as part of planned learning experiences to motivate pupils.Evaluates pupil academic and social growth, keeps accurate records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents on individual pupil progress.Creates, with assistance from pupils, a functional and attractive environment for learning through using displays, bulletin boards, and learning centers and assumes responsibility for proper care and use of physical equipment.Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional and school psychologists in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems and in developing their total potential for learning and living.Maintains a school atmosphere in which human values are shared to the fullest possible extent, and in which attainment of self-reliance, responsible behavior, and a positive self-image are of prime importance.Is aware of and meets requirements and standards of the specific job as interpreted through local school district board policy, county regulations, and the state Education Code.Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.Completes all reports as required, including student evaluation, inventories, orders, programevaluation, and lesson plans.Interprets the educational program to parents and other community members through personal conferences, meetings, and various media.

Effectively organize work, programs and activities to meet schedules, timelines and deadlinesDevelop school site plans and organizational procedures to protect the health and safety of students and staff on campusWorking with diverse learners which include: special education services and support, language learners, supporting students who are learning positive behaviors and/or need access to mental health and social worker servicesFacilitate IEP meetings including scheduling, adherence to timelines, overseeing implementation of student IEP, responsibility for implementation and resources, communicating support to all team members allowing participation for all membersBuild relationships in order to support the skill development of certificated and classified staffAssist with the management of categorical programs and school-wide programs including Summer Camp, After school and enrichment programsSupport the implementation of all school-wide testing programs including ELPAC and CAASPPMonitor school-wide discipline and develop positive school cultureWork with the School Site Council, PTA, ELAC and other parent groupsServe as Principal in her absenceAssist in coordinating and implementing fun, engaging developmentally appropriate extra curricular and co-curricular activities in the areas of common core, character development, project-based learning, STEAM, fitness and recreation, academic support and enrichmentDesign a site program schedule/calendar together with the site administration and in coordination with a variety of other programs and community partners that include a variety of educational, enrichment and recreational activitiesBuild relationships with students, staff, teachers and familiesMaintain regular communication with all stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, site administrators) to share successes and develop strategies to ensure student success

Establish professional development in computer science (CS), coding, and computer science pedagogy for preschool to elementary studentsUse LEGO education products to integrate in curriculum such as LEGO Wedo, Mindstorms,Lego League and Lego League Jr CoachDesign and implement a multi-year computer science curriculum pathway sequence with differentiated and rigorous computer science courses.Allowing students to “meet a pro” through virtual industry chats, providing them with exposure to local computer science businesses and the essential skills needed to succeed.Facilitating relevant real-world computer science activities in the classroom that provide examples of the tasks professionals perform.Facilitating in-person work-based computer science learning opportunities for students such as project presentations to industry leaders.Computer science work based learning program to connect students and teachers to the world of work via partnerships with San Diego local corporate businesses.Provide students with a rigorous comprehensive computer science pathwayCollaborated with teachers to build a strong computer science competency, develop coding skills, and learn necessary pedagogical approaches to teaching coding and computer scienceCollaborate with community partner, Code to the Future to design a curriculum consisting of rigorous and differentiated courses designed to allow students to progress seamlessly through the scope and sequence of material, building an in-depth knowledge of computer science concepts along with confidence in their coding skills.Integrate the World of Work program which is a three-core process where each student applies themselves as a “Mission of Me.” They begin with a self-awareness step where they learn their strengths, interests, and values.
