I am interested in understanding how people interact with the world around them and in eliminating the friction that keeps them from achieving their goals. Someday that might mean I’m a personal trainer, but in my current line of work it means that I lead teams building digital experiences that result in an inspiring user experience while creating meaningful brand expression. I’ve always been a curious person. I spent the first decade of my career in the games industry, mostly on the brand side developing campaigns, while mastering the art of storytelling and eventually transitioning to creative. In the process I became fascinated with the storytelling that happens within the games themselves, and how far we are willing to lose ourselves in these immersive worlds. Since those days, I’ve worked as a creative and experience design director, focusing on innovation and UX with a storytelling bias. This can take many different forms. Here are a few:• A custom virtual product showcase for Bose that featured interactive 3D and augmented reality.• A gamified virtual training experience for HP.• An immersive simulation that blended a physical and digital experience for ‘47 Brands onsite at Super Bowl 50.• A digital experience to accompany the launch of PUMA’s LQDCELL sneaker that featured AR, machine learning and gamification.• Interactive showrooms that allows users to get hands-on with the design visualization of their dream homes for Marvin Brands. A few other things about me:• I like working on small to mid-sized teams highlighted by diverse backgrounds and skillsets.• I’m a 1st gen American and born of two wildly different cultures. The feeling of never quite fitting anywhere made me better at inhabiting the worlds of others with curiosity and empathy. • I’m a constant learner. I went to school for an MBA, trained myself as a creative, pursued continuing education in UX design, and am always seeking to hone my craft and expand my knowledge.• I’ve been fortunate to work on brands in areas such as entertainment, fashion, sports, and automotive, but I’ve had just as much fun working on brands that aren’t in the spotlight or the solution doesn’t feature the sexiest tech. The process for understanding brand challenges and user needs, and for solving complex problems with design is the same.• I’ve been a part of some award-winning projects, but at this stage of my career, the highest honor is when someone I’ve mentored or managed tells me I’ve had a positive impact on their life.
