In my position at Mount Carmel Academy, I teach studio art to grades 9 through 12 and fine arts survey to 8th Grade. I collaborate with other teachers on my level and undergo continuous professional development. This position gives me great satisfaction in that I can see my students' skills and knowledge grow and develop as a direct result of my lessons.

As the art teacher, I plan and implement art lessons that are aligned with state Common Core Standards. However, I also bring my personal experience and extensive knowledge of visual art into play. This combination makes me an effective teacher who knows how to engage and inspire his students.

I taught art to grades kindergarten through 7th at Saint Louis King of France school. My lessons were very "hands-on", and they incorporated art history as well as technical instruction. In addition to teaching art, I managed after school programs, helped to visually improve the campus, and participated in SACS committees.

The Algiers Charter Schools were doing a Saturday morning art program at Louisiana ArtWorks, and I was hired to be an art instructor there. I worked with high school students on various art projects which also incorporated the use of technology. Unfortunately, this program did not last another semester.

At Texas Art Supply, I packed customer orders and got them ready for shipping. Part of my job was to pay meticulous attention to detail, making sure to double-check that an order was filled accurately before packing it. I interfaced daily with the inventory software system that the company used. I was offered an assistant manager position in my last year there, but I turned it down because I wanted to move back to the New Orleans area.

As a teacher's aide at Audubon Montessori School, I was mostly expected to help students with their classwork. I would float between classrooms, assisting teachers in grades 6 through 8. I held this position while working on alternate teacher certification at the University of New Orleans, and it tied into my studies very conveniently. Unfortunately, Hurricane Katrina prevented me from working there for a second year.
