Responsible for leading the strategic and tactical legal initiatives for one of the largest churches in the world - New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Inc. and all of its ministries (including ten subsidiary New Birth churches throughout the United States). Provided a wide range of legal and business advice to corporate leaders spanning all areas of the business including corporate governance and compliance, employment law, intellectual property, trademarks, licensing agreements, financial and legal audits, litigation management, negotiating and drafting contracts, negotiating and drafting real estate leases, vetting vendors, recommending and negotiating appropriate insurance coverage, securing and overseeing the work of outside counsel, etc. Primary functions as General Counsel included: (1) corporate governance and compliance, (2) risk assessment and management, and (3) negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contracts.

Assisted the Director of the Legal Aid Clinic where we taught law students the practical aspects of practicing law. Also taught the following classes: Criminal Procedure, Trial Advocacy, Legal Research and Writing, and Moot Court.

Fort Mcpherson, Georgia

Performed defensive litigation work on various types of federal tort claims including, but not limited to, automobile accidents, medical malpractice, slip and fall cases, and property damage claims. Additionally, pursued subrogation remedies against liable third parties, and responsible for assisting the U.S. Attorney’s Office in litigating cases originating from my claims office.

Responsible for defending the U.S. Army and its management officials before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Merit Systems Protection Board. Performed all aspects of litigation from filing the agency’s response to discovery to trial.

Within the confines of U.S. Army’s regulations, assisted soldiers in resolving their legal problems. Practice areas included, but were not limited to, debtor-creditor, family law, real estate, taxation, and U.S. Army administrative matters. Additionally, as the Chief of the Division, responsible for training and supervising 1 military attorney, 1 paralegal, and 2 legal secretaries.

Performed all aspects of pretrial litigation including, but not limited to, drafting complaints, interrogatories, request for production of documents, writing demand letters, gathering medical documentation, interviewing clients and witnesses, drafting settlement agreements, and writing motions, briefs, and trial memoranda.
