As Senior Technical Director of Display I contribute to the department directional strategy and analyze previous job history data to help with this strategy. I also research new manufacturing techniques and methods to help broaden our fabrication capabilities.I am still responsible for estimating and managing projects that fall within the 3D department parameters as well as engineering solutions to more complicated projects that may be managed by others.

The 3D department is responsible for a wide variety of physical display components for our clients. Our work ranges from flagship windows, in-store rollouts both national and international, custom store fixtures and event displays.My role as a 3D Project Coordinator covers managing projects from concept through design, estimation, approval, production, and installation. This includes all purchases for materials and hardware as well as any additional outside labour needed to complete a project in a given timeline. I handle all logistics for my projects goods moving both in and out of our Long Island City warehouse and ensure they arrive on time and in impeccable condition at our clients' doorstep.

My role consisted of modeling objects in 3D space for use in sculptures. Fine detail modeling, re-meshing/triangulating, optimization for prototyping and production pieces, mass properties, and weight/cost analysis.We used heavy investment casting of 3D printed parts, using the voxeljet material and method of honeycombed interiors to result in a precise cast with minimal failure rate. Models were optimized with sprue patterns and trees to ensure complete fill with steel and no air pockets.I worked in Maya and Solidworks heavily. Solidworks for pure identical model making, Maya for distortion and editing.I got a lot of hands on work here as well with sanding acrylic, light welding, fine wood finishing/filling as well as vinyls and paints.I was the lead CNC operator and created all g-code for the models I worked on. We used a 4x8 bed 3 axis but every item we sent through had forward and reverse milling, meaning we flipped the parts halfway through to mill from both directions. This required incredibly precise alignment and g-code.

I spent this time assisting students and faculty, listening to their problems, and finding solutions in a timely manner. I was positioned to solve these problems while simultaneously working on graphic design assignments for the library and projects for staff. I spent most of my time using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Photoshop.
