I am a team lead for our small but mighty 3 person Engineering team for Gig Boss. Gig Boss is a management app aimed at musicians, bandleaders, and freelance artists! With Over 1,000+ users, Gig Boss is created using React Native, Expo to build and deploy the front end, and uses a Firebase back end to keep user's data safe and up-to-date. Some notable tasks I've created include:As a team lead I managed Spearheaded the revamp of the application’s interface, transitioning from outdated NativeBase Components to contemporary React Components, ensuring a seamless user experience and boosting the application’s performance.I also conducted comprehensive research and proficiently updated 60 + packages, including the latest React, React Native, and Expo Versions. Over my tenure as a Music Industry Professor at Dillard University, I accumulated a wealth of teaching experience spanning a diverse array of subjects. Initially, I imparted foundational knowledge in music theory, history, and appreciation at the college level. Later, I transitioned to a more industry-focused role, where I was instrumental in creating a comprehensive curriculum for the music major. This curriculum encompassed key areas such as music technology, introduction to music business, principles of music production and management, and principles of music marketing.In addition to my role in traditional classroom instruction, I was an integral part of the remote teaching team. I designed and implemented a Music Appreciation course that allowed for asynchronous completion of assignments and online class meetings, providing flexibility for students. This course was specially designed to eliminate the need for textbooks, a strategic choice to accommodate low-income students. Furthermore, my efforts in remote education were recognized through my Quality Matters (QM) certification, which is a testament to my ability to create and teach college courses in a remote setting.

As a Digital Archivist for the Louis Armstrong House Museum, I utilized my technical skills to work remotely, efficiently managing, organizing, and formatting a significant volume of historic metadata and other items. I was responsible for integrating these diverse datasets into a cohesive and navigable database, demonstrating my proficiency in data management and attention to detail. This role further honed my problem-solving skills, as I encountered and overcame various data-related challenges to produce a final product that served the museum's needs effectively. This experience highlighted my ability to apply my technical skills in a real-world context, reinforcing my versatility as a software engineer.
