My educational philosophy is to create a safe, healthy learning environment that fosters academic achievement. Providing differentiated instruction gives opportunities to diverse learners to learn new skills, as well as demonstrate their learning in a multitude of ways. Using standards-based learning helps align school curriculum with the state standards. These standards are where the purpose for learning and class objectives derive from. Utilizing Strategies such as scaffolding helps every student master classroom content and skills. It also helps challenge students to explore further information and challenge themselves. This establishes rigor in the classroom. I enjoy implementing collaborative activities in my instruction to help elevate the engagement in the room. Students learn from each other just as much as they do from direct instruction. I like to serve as a learning guide and help students utilize their strengths to master new skills. I have four years of experience teaching 11th grade American Government in Ohio. I also have experience teaching economics and financial literacy.I utilize my passion, enthusiasm and dedication to aid the educational growth of adolescents while creating a positive, safe, and healthy learning environment in my classroom. I value collaborating with my colleagues to pursue further instructional training. Communicating with colleagues is instrumental in providing intervention and prevention strategies. It is also critical in correctly applying modifications for students. Working with grade level teams is beneficial with programs such as Response to Intervention. I value a collaborative environment with a school staff that shares a common vision.
