Coordinator (2016-present)-Project Manager, Cabot Square Project (2013-2015)Tasked with developing Canada’s first urban strategy for safety and wellbeing for an Aboriginal community living in homelessness, I designed and coordinated a social lab to consult the system, identify its needs, analyze policies, and ultimately facilitate a cross-sector effort to develop and implement a strategy aimed at improving safety and wellbeing for homeless and at-risk Aboriginals in downtown Montreal. This initiative was implemented in close partnership with the International Centre for the Prevention of Crime and the City of Montreal.- Partnership building: Developed formal partnerships with organizations and governments, secured funding for strategy implementation, and analyzed and provided feedback on provincial and municipal government policies that affected community members;- Community Research and Strategic Planning: Conducted community research to evaluate the feeling of safety and wellbeing within the neighbourhood and to identify factors contributing to insecurity. Stakeholder groups included Aboriginal persons living close to the street, over 30 non-profit organizations, municipal, provincial and federal departments and ministries, as well as the general public to promote feelings of shared ownership; Produced a strategy for safety and wellbeing for Aboriginals living in homelessness by identifying immediate and long-term solutions to support those living close to the street and to promote cohabitation between all users of the public space;- Community Participation and Bilingual Communications: Facilitated bilingual working groups gathering 40+ partners as well as coordinated weekly progress meetings with individual partners;- Fundraising: Secured almost $500 000 to develop and implement the local strategy (municipal, provincial, and federal governments), then to scale up for systemic change (The J.W. Family McConnell Foundation).

Implementation of a pilot project to reduce the urban heat island effect and increase environmental awareness by transforming a single downtown city block into a model of urban sustainable development, under a mandate from the City of Montreal and the Institut national de santé publique du Québec:• Implemented a renewal project to include a rain water permeable alley, rain gardens, an underground water retention basin, green street curb extensions, and street furniture to facilitate active transportation• Promoted composting and recycling by designing and overseeing the implementation of a waste management program for business owners (waste, recycling, and composting)• Coordinated an urban agriculture program for residents and organized public events to increase awareness of the initiative• Created job descriptions; trained and supervise two employees, six interns and dozens of volunteers• Managed a $253 000 budget over 2 years• Engaged residents and business owners in a public awareness campaign to increase knowledge of urban heat islands, through public presentations and newsletters• Collaborated closely with the funders, the City of Montreal and the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ), to coordinate this initiative from concept to completion• Coordinated the efforts of private consulting firms (architects, engineers, contractors) in collaboration with the City of Montreal to ensure timely delivery of services and products• Produced summary reports for the INSPQ, newsletters for partner organizations and the general public, press releases, interviews with live and print media, information pamphlets, and funding proposals to the City of MontrealThis initiative was a winner of the 7th annual Gala de reconnaissance en environnement et développement durable de Montréal.Skills acquired: project management: bilingual communications, human resources, community mobilization, urban design
