The MIT CISR Data Research Advisory Board actively engages in MIT CISR data research projects and provides oversight, input, and prioritization through the end-to-end research process. Data board members influence and inform data-specific research conducted at MIT CISR and in the broader global academic community.

Responsible for Data Engineering and Analytic applications for the Card, Retail Bank, Commercial Bank, Auto and Home Loans business lines. Includes leadership for 60+ agile engineering teams (500+ FTEs) providing analytic support for products used by more than 40 million customers. Change agent driving widespread innovation on Data Engineering teams via solution prototyping with open source big data tools such as Spark, Kafka, Storm, and MongoDB.Founder and Executive Sponsor of Capital One's Autism@Work program.

Responsible for Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence for the Card, Home Loans and Auto lines of business (~$30MM delivery budget and ~300 resources). Achieved end state delivery of an enterprise data warehouse where all lines of business are on a consistent data technology stack with common tools, data models and processes – program was a 2011 CIO 100 winner. Led a $20MM data integration program that enabled all Capital One analyst teams to access HSBC analytic data on our existing tool stack within one year of Capital One’s acquisition of the $30B HSBC US Card portfolio.

Responsible for Data Analytics for Card Operations and for Data Stewardship the entire Card business. Drove consolidation to a single Business Intelligence tool and developed the BI strategy for Capital One. Enabled rapid implementation of credit loss mitigation activities such as skip tracing and bankruptcy notification by extending the data warehouse to support operational capabilities.Data Analyst job family champion responsible for recruiting, development and engagement strategy. Established the first Data Community All Hands meeting to bring together the 400+ Data Analysts in Capital One for sharing best practices, innovations and ideas.

Responsible for credit risk management and customer service operations for a turn-around check guarantee company investment backed by GTCR that was ultimately sold for a profit. Introduced credit scoring methodology to all check transactions that reduced manual funds and phone verification calls and bounce rates. Renegotiated a key data vendor contract eliminating 75% of outstanding billings and resulting in a 85% ongoing cost savings. Reduced monthly operational costs by $2.5MM helping return business to profitability.

Led all mortgage servicing for vacation property sales division of Starwood. Responsible for account set up, servicing, collections and foreclosures of an international mortgage portfolio.Introduced check re-deposit program that reduced collections expenses by 10% and reduced delinquency rates by 18%. Implemented mortgage document imaging system to shorten skip tracing from weeks to days and to enable more efficient integration of regional acquisitions in Colorado and Arizona. Automated loan communication process with nationwide attorney network to reduce foreclosure costs by 12%.

Responsible for overall credit risk for ~$120MM revenue check guarantee business. Responsibilities included business analysis, account management, predictive credit modeling, and collections modeling for 160k national, specialty and regional accounts. Led integration of neural network models into the existing suite of logistic regression models. Developed automated funds verification process using speech recognition to hit bank IVR’s to validate funds availability of checks. Introduced self-service account review reporting to enable more self-sufficient sales and service teams. Led due diligence and integration of risk functions for franchise acquisitions in New Orleans and Australia.

Responsible for risk analytics for all regional accounts and was owner of the gaming risk portfolio. Developed new risk product that took gaming revenue from $5MM to $25MM per year over a 2 year period. Led automation of predictive model testing processes that shortened model development time by half. Developed account profitability system that calculated account level profit for all accounts.

Built predictive models for check guarantee and managed portfolio risk for Western US region. Developed industry based performance model to identify unprofitable accounts and recommended actions to improve account profitability. Provided analytic support and major account reviews for Western Region Vice Presidents.
