About Reid Spreiter

I am an avid composer of contemporary electronic music, and I was on track to graduate with a degree in music composition before pursuing computer science. I enjoy writing music because I get to build something new from the ground up with immense control over all kinds of parameters. However, after two years, I realized that studying the prospect in college was not for me.I didn't know anything about computer science at the time and was considering leaving school, but one of my friends changed those thoughts. He introduced me to C++ and walked me through syntax until I coded Imran Ghory’s ‘FizzBuzz.’ This seemingly simple problem overwhelmed me with curiosity, far more than any course I had taken at university thus far. I instantly changed my major to computer science.Making a major change at the beginning of my junior year was challenging, and I have disliked some aspects of computer science, but I know I made the right choice. I have built projects in Python, C, C++, JavaScript, Typescript, Rust, and React, and I am currently working alongside hardware as an Embedded Software Engineering Co-Op at Extreme Engineering Solutions. I cannot wait to grow as an engineer, earn my degree, and apply my skills in future positions.
