• Traveled internationally with team of 10-15 technicians to install/build vacuum chamber systems while meeting deliverable targets. Managed the build schedule, compiled reports for interdepartmental teams, and overcame part shortages and language barriers at customer sites over the course of six months.• Diagnosed an issue in our manufacturing process leading to failure rate of 90% in a critical heating component. Diagnosis process involved dimensional, functional, and fit testing of 100% current inventory. Partnered with quality teams and design engineers to design, model, prototype and test the proposed solutions. Proposed replacement was found to reduced interference with adjacent parts to reduce failure rate to 5%.• Created qualification procedures and criteria for BIT checking and leak checking vacuum chamber systems. Procedures involved collaborating with experienced technicians to document total qualification process including setting IP addresses, programming variable frequency drives, verifying optic thermocouples, collecting readings from wide range gauges and barometers, and helium leak checking several interconnected vacuum chambers. The qualification process also involved pressure testing gas and water lines as well as preforming functional testing on Shimadzu and Pfeiffer turbo pumps. • Qualified vendors locally, in China, and Taiwan. Qualification process involved understanding machining capabilities, designing tools, and monitoring through first article inspection. Vendors were expected to maintain quality based on drawing designations and complete component builds within our specifications. Nearly all parts were expected to meet high vacuum capabilities even in high demand and sporadic build cycles. It was critical to have continued communication with planning, purchasing and vendor contact to meet deliverable.

• Partnered with Wichita State University to develop mechanical fairings for center pivot irrigation systems to prevent rollover during high wind events. Tests involved iterating both cylinder and airfoil designs in a wind tunnel using finite element analysis (FEA) to determine survivability through a series of wind events at various pitch, yaw and roll. Designs were to be made via extrusion, so material selection for manufacturing and survivability in field conditions were considered. Adhesion was also a critical design criterion. Working with 3M it was determined roll on industrial tape was the most cost effective while allowing for mass manufacturing. Coupled with other “smart” solutions tip over rate was calculated to be reduced by 85%.• Designed weatherproof enclosures for agricultural sensors. Design criteria dictated an enclosure that was primarily able to withstand field use for up to 5 years requiring minimal maintenance in both hot/humid and below freezing conditions, ease of signal penetration for both Bluetooth and Lora radio signals and WiFi, and chemical resistance. Iterations were designed in Solidworks and prototypes were created using a 3D printer with Simplify3D software. Signal tests were performed using in-lab relay and experimental mobile telecommunications relay in various field conditions to determine enclosure viability and signal range through heavy biomass.• Collaborated with drafting contractors nationally and internationally to develop conceptual agricultural machinery using both current and future hardware. With the concept of bringing factory automation to the fields a gantry system was modeled with various agricultural attachments designed to preform completed planting, weeding and harvesting processes.
