Provides risk management, regulatory and legal support to over 200+ skilled nursing, long term care, assisted living, home health, hospice and medical transport operations in over a dozen states. Evaluates and advises on regulatory issues and directives impacting business operations. Drafts briefs and represents client facilities in administrative hearings before regulatory bodies. Conducts claim investigations, including medical record reviews and witness interviews to evaluate and assess potential litigation. Manages federal and state litigation in concert with outside counsel, including participation in discovery, case strategy, motion practice, mediation, arbitration and trial. Advises facility clients across all states served regarding state and federal business and regulatory actions, including surveys, citations, complaint investigations, abuse allegations and DOJ investigations. Conducts risk management and educational training regarding various aspects of regulatory and legal issues facing client facilities. Provides legal and regulatory support to Contracting, Licensing, Transactional and Compliance teams. Proactively assists the business, its clients and affiliates to manage legal risk as it impacts operations and services. Models and teaches the unique culture of the business by being a culture leader. Influences departmental and organizational design and systems, and helps align business objectives to key values, principles and legal requirements.
