In general, I am a very broadly interested and social person, currently looking for work in the fields of (public) policy and politics, policy and management advice, and higher or professional education and research. I completed an MA in Philosophy and MSc in Public Administration at Erasmus University and worked there for 5 years as an academic teacher, education innovator, ‘manager’ of junior teachers and coordinator of an educational programme. My ‘theoretical’ philosophy background enables me to think (systematically) in many different ways, which I often describe as ‘being an intellectual chameleon’. Because of this, I am able to effectively communicate and link up with different kinds of people, professions and organisations; during my study, I was not only taught to do this during conversations but also in clear writing (in various languages). Furthermore, asking the right questions and having (conceptual) overview are not only essential parts of philosophy but also valuable skills in almost any profession. Over the years, I gained more interpersonal or ‘people’ skills while teaching a great variety of students and by coaching junior teachers, which require not only correctly explaining content, but also checking, listening, reassuring, motivating, and clearly organising meetings. Next to this, my Public Administration background shows my interest in making things work in real-time: beautiful ideas require a vast knowledge of the practical world to be implemented effectively, and for me, that’s what politics and public administration (can) do. I also tried to use my organisational knowledge to improve the educational programme and spot opportunities for growth and improvement both in the educational organisation and in the junior teachers I managed. Sadly, I had to leave EUR (because of insufficient budget reasons) in a rough way, while experiencing a burnout and other hardships in the private sphere, all during the last long Corona lockdown. Unfortunately, I had focussed more on keeping ‘corona’ education going than on completing my own master theses and completing these formed quite a personal challenge from my state of burnout, which took some time. Also, because I moved to Italy for half a year and (unluckily) became sick for 3 months upon return. Now, I finally finished my studies and I am ready to work, with a lot of ‘life experience’ gained over the last two years. I generally lack ‘practical’ experience with programs such as Excel, as this was never included in my studies. But I worked a bit with these and I’m eager to learn!
