Reinhilde Jacobs is full professor at the Dept Imaging & Pathology, Univ Leuven, guest professor at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm & visiting professor at Dalian Medical University (China) . Since 1990, she has been performing (post)doctoral research on oral implant physiology & osseoperception. From 1990 till 2004 she was granted fellowships from the FWO Flanders, meanwhile obtaining a postdoctoral European fellowship (1994-95), to work at Göteborg University (Sweden) on osseoperception around orthopaedic implants with Prof. P-I Brånemark (Institute for Applied Biotechnology), Prof. R. Brånemark and Prof. B. Rydevik (Dept. Orthopaedics, University Göteborg). R. Jacobs is coordinating the omfs impath research group (Univ of Leuven). She is the Secretary-General Elect of the International Association of DentoMaxilloFacial Radiology & past president of the European Academy of DentoMaxilloFacial Radiology. R. Jacobs is associate editor of Clinical Oral Investigations, European Journal Oral Implantology & Oral Radiology. Furthermore, she acts as editorial board member of Clinical Oral Implant Research, J Oral Rehabilitation, Oral Surgery Oral Medicine Oral Pathology Oral Radiology, Imaging Science in Dentistry, 2 Brazilian Journals and the Dutch “Het Tandheelkundig Jaar”. She has received the D Collen Research Travel Award (1994), the IADR Young Investigators Award (1998) and the Belgian Joachim Award in the Odontostomatology (1999). She is involved in multidisciplinary research collaborations, with a specific focus on oral implant physiology and imaging research.
