Through my whole life, I used to get in trouble with my mom for talking to strangers. I did not care who they were but I would just simply strike up conversation with them. My mom especially didn’t like this about me when I was very young for obvious reasons. Thankfully, this ability to talk to everyone came in handy. I work as a server at a high-class steakhouse restaurant. This is not my first serving job and doubt it will be my last until I am finished with my bachelors. Waiting tables require a certain type of personality. Not all individuals who serve have it, but if anyone is going to work in this industry, they will find an outgoing personality will only help you out in the end. My goal every time I serve a table is to make them feel comfortable and open to who I am. I am really good at picking out certain hobbies or interests that people have. Once I have discovered one, I run with it. This makes the customer feel important and helps them feel a sense of understanding and relation towards me as their server. This usually ends with these individuals becoming regulars and a lot better tips!
