Rembrant Aarts (1975) is working as a psychiatrist and manager at Mentrum Mental Healthcare in Amsterdam. Deze klinieken met 5 locaties bieden behandeling van patiënten met een chronische ernstige psychische aandoening (EPA). Opgeleid als arts aan de Universiteit Maastricht en na zijn specialisatie als arts internationale gezondheid en tropengeneeskunde (AIGT) heb ik een aantal jaren in Burundi en Mozambique gewerkt binnen de medische noodhulp en -onderwijs. Naast clinicus ben ik adviseur, consultant ,voorzitter van de werkgroep Global Mental Health (GMH) en als docent betrokken bij training en supervisie van verschillende disciplines. Mijn interesse gebieden zijn: ernstige psychiatrische aandoeningen (EPA), transculturele psychiatrie, global mental health, onderwijs, forensische medisch-juridische rapporten bij asielzoekers, management, tolkdiensten, complex psychotrauma en herstelgerichte zorg. Ik ben geregistreerd psychiater (volwassenen), psychotraumatherapeut NtVP en AIGT. Ik ben lid van de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Psychiatrie (NVvP, afdeling transculturele psychiatrie en EPA), Nederlandse Vereniging voor Tropische Geneeskunde, Nederlandse Vereniging voor Psychotrauma (NtVP) en de European Society of Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS).
