I was originally hired to work at a backcountry camp, but a wildfire broke out on ranch property. We were given the chance to leave without penalties or stay and do work, and I chose to stay. During the next 2 months, I worked as a fire restoration crew member. My tasks included: helping to cut down fire-hazardous trees, haul the trees, and stack logs. For the last few weeks of my work, I worked in the burn zone where I helped to create LEB's (Log Erosion Barriers) so that when it rained, the LEB's would catch sediment. The work required a lot of manual labor and excellent teamwork skills.

Philmont Scout Ranch is a Boy Scout High Adventuring camp located in Cimarron, NM. During the summer of 2017, I worked at Crooked Creek, which is a homesteading camp. I had to live and act like a young woman living in 1875, including knowing knowledge of history, home life, politics, survival, and other factors as applied. This camp was isolated by having no road for vehicles to access, no treated water, and no electricity except for our radio. With crews I would give cabin tours to show them what it was like living in that era, teach them candle-making, show them the animals, and other various tasks. Individual duties included upkeep of the cabin, taking care of the animals, preparing for program, and other duties as assigned.

Philmont Scout Ranch is a Boy Scout High Adventuring camp located in Cimarron, NM. During the summer of 2016 I worked at Carson Meadows, which is a Search and Rescue/Wilderness First Aid camp. We worked with Boy Scouts troops and Venturing crews, teaching them the basics of Search and Rescue and First Aid as well as Mechanical Advantage with Pulleys all while living out in the middle of the woods with my coworkers. The work included giving introductory talks with the crews, applying special effects makeup to create fake injuries, and teaching intensive courses based around First Aid.
