I am currently the Integrated Mine Countermeasures Training Continuum program lead of a team consisting of 25 Mine Warfare subject matter experts. We provide operational mentorship; conduct annual operational assessments and biennial certifications for the Theater Mine Warfare Commander; 3 Mine Countermeasures Commander squadrons; 11 Mine Countermeasures Ships; 2 aviation squadrons and multiple Explosive Ordinance Disposal teams to conduct joint and multi-national Mine Warfare operations with NATO and non-NATO allies. In the past 12-months, I spearheaded a training, assessment and certification process improvement initiative, which expanded training timelines allowing for an increased scope of operations; expanded national asset participation in Mine Warfare exercises, and added a more robust staff operational planning process curriculum to include Mine Warfare emerging technologies and in-depth assessments on mitigating environmental effects on Mine Warfare operations. Improvements led to two staff certification in the last 8-months. Our team also advises three fleet commanders on the operational and personnel readiness of the Mine Warfare staffs and tactical units. I manage a $500k annual training and travel budget.

While serving onboard PELELIU, I served as the command’s Deck Department Head and Director of Training and Certifications. As the Deck Department Head, I had the distinct pleasure to lead and direct the daily operations of 125 technical experts who operated, maintained and repaired shipboard auxiliary equipment and amphibious landing support equipment. As the department lead, I managed all technical and quality assurance programs; managed a $10 million operational, repair and training budget, which accounted for the acquisition of mission essential support equipment and repair parts supply chain. I fostered organizational development initiatives to build better interdepartmental relations and resource allocations to be more efficient in meeting the commander’s operational objectives. As the command Director of Training and Certifications, I led 25 professional development and operations subject matter experts through a mandated change in U.S. Navy surface combatant certification requirements. Team provided technical oversight and directed training process improvements across 12 departments and 1100 personnel.

Mine Countermeasure Ships - San Diego, Ca

Director of Operations and Chief Engineer - shipboard electrical; propulsion and auxiliary systems subject matter expert. I was the lead Engineer of 50 subject matter experts in technical and quality assurance program management; electrical and mechanical repairs and operations of propulsion and electric generation plants; shipboard damage control systems; maintenance, training and certification scheduling; support equipment acquisitions and supply chain. Our team had reputation for exceptional engineering readiness with an impeccable safety record through 10-months of deployment and through multiple engineering and personnel readiness certifications. I directed a 6-month $5 million industrial maintenance project. As the project lead, I collaborated with shipyard project managers and quality assurance leads on all critical path engineering and combat systems scheduled equipment upgrades and install timelines, including cost analysis and testing. Prioritized resources with maintenance and operational schedules, which decreased the project timeline by 10% and reduced costs by 4%.

In this professionally rewarding role, I led curriculum development and facilitated classroom and practical training in Seamanship, Navigation, and Naval History. Additionally, I mentored and provided professional insight to Midshipmen who service selected Surface Warfare Officer. I was selected by the Department Chair to be the Operations Director of a $5 million synthetic shipboard trainer, which provided Midshipmen a hands-on opportunity to navigate and direct operations of naval surface combatants. I also served as an Assistant Coach of the Men’s Varsity Rugby team.
